Plasma Rich Platelet (PRP)
Restore thinning hair, stimulate new hair growth Vancouver
PRP (Plate Rich Plasma) is a concentrated amount of platelets that is extracted from your blood through an intravenous-just like how you give a blood sample. It's a quick and relatively painless procedure. This portion of your blood called, plasma, contains growth factors that can rapidly heal and stimulate tissue regeneration in the treated area. This plasma is then injected into an area such as the scalp, under the eyes or for acne scars where it uses the body’s own ability to heal itself and enhance the appearance of skin and restore hair growth.
When do you notice results?
PRP results are most noticeable after 6 months and because these are not permanent results, you may require maintenance injections at least once a year.
How long does the treatment take?
PRP treatments take about 30 minutes and most people can resume their daily activities post treatment.
How do I prepare for PRP treatment?
It is recommended you have a light meal prior to your appointment as we will be drawing blood. Bring a hat if the scalp is being treated. Please wash your hair and ensure the scalp remains clean post treatment.
What to expect after PRP treatment?
The area may be sore for up to 72 hours post treatment. It is important to avoid washing the area during the healing phase. You may notice some bruising. Tylenol is recommended to ease discomfort. Hair dye use can resume 1 week after PRP treatment.
