Lip filler is used to plump and add volume back into the lips. This lip treatment can be used to correct symmetry, soften lines around the mouth, restore hydration, and add subtle balance for the perfect pout. Lip enhancements can be a great option for a quick confidence boost. Most lip fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA) which attracts water and keeps your lips hydrated. How long do lip injections last?
Lip filler can generally last months to years depending on the product used. The typical range for the products I use are 15+ months.
What should I expect after my treatment?
You will experience swelling, redness and potentially bruising. This can last a minimum of 7-10 days. After this period, the lips return to their natural state but you will notice the volume that was added from the filler. I want to ensure the lips are yours but enhanced so only you will notice the difference.
What is the aftercare?
I will provide arnica to minimize bruising and swelling. Use the provided ice pack on and off for an hour post procedure.
The lips can be tender for a few days so continue applying the arnica.
Do not massage the lips.
Avoid strenuous activity and excessive heat or cold for the first 24 hours.
How are lip injections performed?
I will assess the area of interest and use markings prior to injecting. A topical numbing agent will be applied. I will then use injection or cannula to deposit the filler. This is relatively painless and comfortable procedure as the filler also contains a numbing agent. You will eventually feel pushing and pulling with all the numbing provided.
Why do lips lose volume?
Lips can lose volume due to a variety of factors, including:

1. Aging: As we age, our bodies produce less collagen and elastin, which are essential proteins that provide structure and elasticity to the skin. This loss of collagen can lead to thinning and sagging of the lips, resulting in a loss of volume.

2. Genetics: Some individuals may naturally have thinner lips and filler can be a great solution to add shape and definition to this area of the face.

3. Sun exposure: Prolonged and unprotected exposure to the sun's harmful UV rays can accelerate the breakdown of collagen in the lips, leading to premature aging and volume loss.
Are there risks?
As with any procedure there can be a slight risk. I minimize this by assessing for any allergies, current medications, and being strict with infection control. I ensure to keep you safe and only use the best evidence based products and procedures to prevent any potential complication.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Please come to your appointment with clean, makeup free skin. Avoid excessive caffeine. Avoid blood thinners 2 weeks before your appointment as this can increase bruising.
